This thesis serves the purpose of answering the following research question: What translation problems does the novel The Time Traveler's Wife pose and what are the possible ways to deal with them? In connection with this, the following sub question has been dealt with: What are the characteristics of this novel’s written style and how is this style connected to these difficulties in translation? The (a) humour and (b) figurative language are particularly interesting and are discussed with the help of translation theories on the matter. This thesis also includes an annotated translation of three of the novel's chapters.
