dc.description.abstract | This thesis contains an overview of literature on the Obligatory Contour Principle, including gradient influences on OCP, such as distance, similarity (multiple markedness) and prosodic salience, followed by a detailed analysis of OCP in Dutch, based on Dutch language data. It includes an OT analysis of OCP in Dutch, a comparison of Dutch with other languages and conclusions on universal and language-specific aspects of OCP. | |
