dc.description.abstract | This master's thesis explores how the 2024 game Snufkin: Melody of Moominvalley merges environmental awareness with a cozy gameplay experience. Through a detailed game analysis, the study positions Snufkin within the cozy game genre—characterized by its calming aesthetic, gentle mechanics, and emphasis on emotional well-being. Drawing on theories of environmental literacy, climate emotions, game design, and the cozy game genre, the thesis investigates how elements such as visual style, music, and narrative structure foster a sense of comfort while simultaneously communicating ecological themes. In doing so, it also critically examines the potential tension between the soothing nature of cozy games and the pressing urgency of environmental concerns. | |
