The MSc Thesis Report gives insights into the physical controls related to salt diapirism through a physics-based, 2D numerical modelling investigation. Diapirism rates are obtained and evaluated, with results supporting recent studies on salt diapirism in the northeast Netherlands while expanding on the related physical controls with robust constraints on subsurface conditions during salt diapirism.
