Het verband tussen aspecten van de objectieve levenskwaliteit en de subjectieve levenskwaliteit bij mensen met ernstige psychiatrische aandoeningen

Abstract

Quality of life is an important outcome measure in evaluating the treatment of people with severe mental illnesses. In this study the relationship between aspects of the objective quality of life (subdivided into demographic features and mental, physical, behavioral and social functioning) and the subjective quality of life was examined. This research was part of the Routine Outcome Monitoring (ROM) with the Utrechtse Zorgmonitor and included 839 patients with severe mental illnesses. The Manchester Short Assessment of quality of life (MANSA) assessed the subjective quality of life and the Health of the Nation Outcome Scales (HoNOS) assessed a large number of aspects related to objective quality of life. Many relationships were found between aspects of the objective quality of life and the subjective quality of life, but most of these relationships were weak. Problems with depressive mood, social contacts and housing conditions had the strongest relationship with the subjective quality of life. During treatment extra attention can be paid to these problems to improve the subjective quality of life of patients.
