dc.description.abstract | In today's interwoven world with intensified cultural interactions and continuous direct contact between diverse cultural groups, the question of belonging becomes increasingly complex, highlighting challenges in understanding individuals' diverse experiences, especially for immigrants navigating identity articulation and acculturation in a new place. This study aims to identify factors influencing the sense of belonging among first-generation Latin American immigrants in the Netherlands and examines how these factors impact their acculturation process. This research employs a mixed methodology comprising a quantitative component, involving a survey, and a qualitative component, consisting of semi-structured interviews. By investigating personal migration experiences, the study explores the uniqueness of these experiences, offering a comprehensive understanding of the acculturation process and sense of belonging. This research also aims to expand knowledge on belonging and acculturation by integrating the concept of superdiversity and increasing visibility and understanding of the Latin American population in Dutch society. | |
