dc.description.abstract	The research questions guiding this thesis are: how is texture, and in particular cohesion and coherence, created in texts? Is it universal or language-bound and, if language-bound, what are the differences between English and Dutch? Which aspects are relevant to translators of this language pair? The answers emerge from a theoretical analysis, which is illustrated with examples from the book "David and Solomon – In Search of the Bible’s Sacred ings and the Roots of the Western Tradition". A 5000-word translation of a subchapter of the book is included.
