dc.subjectCell competition is an important, but quite unknown function conserved amongst species. Its most important function is during development, but during adult life it plays a part in prevention of cancer. However, sometimes it can also be hijacked by precancerous cells to their advantage. In this literature review, I discuss the function of cell competition and its different roles during cancer.
