dc.subject | This thesis explores how inhabitants of Terschelling negotiate feelings of belonging with the Wadden seascape in the context of frictional transformations. The relationship with the Wadden seascape as a form of belonging is changing for inhabitants of Terschelling, the Netherlands. By focusing on engagement with the seascape as a form of belonging, I show how nature conservation and tourism-driven cultural realignment contribute to a feeling of collective displacement. | |
