In the Netherlands youth hanging around is the biggest nuisance in the social area. Several parties are involved in diminishing this nuisance. The diversity within these parties increases the chances of difficulties in adjusting to one another. Town X has experienced that not every party is familiar with the distribution and adjustment of roles of parties involved with feelings of safety, including the experience of youth nuisance. This research paper gives an insight in the collaboration and adjustment in role-distribution within the youth-network of youth nuisance in Town X. Hereto the following research question was posed: How do parties involved with youth nuisance treat youth hanging around in Town X and to what extend is their treatment adjusted to one another? To answer this question semi-structured interviews have been held with the closely involved parties. Three youth workers, three neighborhood police officers and two neighborhood-coordinators have been interviewed. The respondents were employed in three different neighborhoods. The interviews showed that all three parties have a role in the approach to diminishing youth nuisance and the roles are adjusted to one another. However, the parties seemed to disagree on which person within the city council they thought had the leading role at what point in the approach. Also it was unclear when and why ‘Zorgplein’ was to be involved in the approach and during consultation meetings. It also seems that school is little involved by the parties in consultations.
