Aim. The aim of this study is to analyse the consistency between support, negative interaction and control in the parent-child relationship with aggressive and depressive behavior of young adolescents. Method. In this cross-sectional study, 892 adolescents with an average age of 12.48 filled in the questionnaire, during school hours. This data has been analysed with two multiple regression analysis. Results. The results show that control of father and negative interaction of father and mother are positively related to aggressive behavior of adolescents. Besides that, support of father and mother and negative interaction of father and mother are also related to depressive behavior of adolescents. Conclusion. Remarkable results are the absence of a relation between parental support and aggression, the negative relation between the control of father and aggression and the positive relation between support of mother and depressive behavior. Future research should focus more on other important aspects of the parent-child relationship and problem behavior which are currently rarely addressed, such as the difference between the many cultures concerning norms and values, rules and cultural habits, the consistency of support of mother and depression and the consequences of sex differences in the group of adolescents.
