Developer ecosystems are a set of software developers functioning as a unit and interacting with a shared market for software artefacts. Organizations that wish to develop their own developer ecosystems need to support developers with a comprehensive set of tools, to lower barriers to entry into the ecosystem and to raise productivity of developers in the ecosystem. In this paper a comprehensive tool framework is provided and used to evaluate eight developer ecosystems. The cases serve as an illustration for organizations that want to further improve the experience and productivity of its developers.
