To prevent radicalization among youth, professionals in the youth domain (e.g., child protection officers, youth workers, and police officers) need to share information interdisciplinary. To support them with this, the pilot “Workshops sharing information of possible radicalization” was implemented in seven municipalities and one youth care organization in the Netherlands. The aim of this study was to examine the needs of professionals in order to share information between disciplines as well as to examine the working elements of the pilot. Semi-structured interviews (n=12) and a survey (n=37) were held among participants of the program. The results show that a lack of mutual trust, different views on information sharing practices and insufficient knowledge about radicalization and the legal framework are perceived as bottlenecks to share information. To achieve adequate information sharing, youth professionals are in need of support to increase their knowledge base and skills as well as to deepen their trust in each other. Only with the right knowledge about the problem as well as about each other and with sufficient levels of mutual trust, interdisciplinary information sharing will arise and radicalization can possibly be prevented.
