Industrial environments are on the brink of a technological revolution caused by the IoT, Big data science solutions, and the Cloud. The concept of an industrial environment that utilizes these technologies is also called the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT). The relatively new technologies are difficult to integrate with traditional industrial control systems (ICS) as more integration is synonymous with more vulnerabilities to threats due to new or increased Internet connectivity. The integration of the technologies therefore increases complexity for security and security staff, which calls for security monitoring solutions that demonstrate more automation while being operational in an IIoT environment.
