A low age of sexual debut plays a role in different sexual health related issues. The goal of the present study is to determine whether the socioeconomic status (SES) of adolescents and their age of sexual debut are associated and whether parental monitoring and parent-adolescent communication affect this association. A positive association between SES and the age of sexual debut is found and parent-adolescent communication is proven to decrease the strength of this association for boys.
