In this Bachelor thesis the need for a new fan-position theory is made clear and argued, using the existing theories by Henry Jenkins and Matt Hills. In doing this AU is closely related to the existence of the third unidentified approach, without AU the approach wouldn’t be as visible as it is. This research uses one case to make its point, a Supernatural fanfiction by the name of ‘Twist and Shout’. It uses a structural narrative analysis designed by Roland Barthes, this to focus on text-to-text relations only.
