dc.description.abstractIn this thesis I argue that the epistemic virtues of the Dutch liberal Simon Vissering (1818-1888) can only be understood in the context of his branch of old-liberalism, but that this not support a strong link between liberalism and the rise of objectivity, as Ad Maas has argued.
