dc.description.abstract | Background: A few studies have been conducted on the relationship between personality characteristics and externalizing problem behavior. However, the influence of these
characteristics on the results of an intervention for children, hasn’t been studied. Aim: Using data from a sample of parents of 89 children, collected through questionnaires in 2008, I examined the influence of personality characteristics on the
change of externalizing problem behavior through a preventive intervention. Results: For father’s data, positive relations were found between extraversion and conscientiousness and the difference scores on externalizing problem behavior. The same relations were found between extraversion and emotional stability and the difference scores on aggressive problem behavior. Conclusions: Children who score high on extraversion and conscientiousness obtain a
bigger progress on the change of externalizing problem behavior. Furthermore, higher scores on extraversion and emotional stability are associated with a bigger progress on the change of aggressive behavior. | |
