dc.description.abstract	Ever since Barack Obama has moved into the White House ethics have obtained a more central role in America's foreign affairs. One of Obama's predecessors who struggled with this subject was Jimmy Carter. Going into his dealings with Iran, the Soviet Union and the Palestinians, teaches us, and Obama, certain lessons regarding ethical international politics.
