dc.description.abstract | This research is about the treatment of delinquent youth groups in Tilburg. It gives an overview of how this approach is achieved and how the cooperation between the parties involved is taking place. This has been done through document analysis and semi-structured interviews with ten respondents. The document analysis showed that three parties are mainly involved in the approach for the target group: the municipality, the police and the youth work organization R-Newt. In addition, adolescents were interviewed to map their experiences. First of all, the odds of finding delinquent youth groups and the extent of the problem was discussed. The odds of finding a delinquent youth group is the chance that an deliqeunt youth group will be noticed by one of the parties involved. This turned out to be different between network partners and the size of the problem proved to be difficult to concretize. Subsequently, attention was paid to the approach of the parties involved, which was divided into three dimensions: sanctioning, facilitating and empowerment. The internal consistency of these co-operation was included. The co-operation is internally consistent when the parties involved act in a similar way and match each other. The results showed that within the dimension sanctioning the police acted the most because of their enforcement role. Within the dimension facilitating, the municipality played the most important role because they have the potential for this. Within empowerment, youth workers took the lead, because they work with the youth groups. Within each dimension, the parties agreed on the best approach, but there were also situations where parties did disagree. This is because the parties have their own role in dimensions, which can sometimes collide. The adolescents were most positive about their experiences within the empowerment dimension and with the youth workers but it was noticeable that they didn’t have a good view of how the network worked and their co-operations. | |
