Betrouwbaarheid en Validiteit van de Reken Beleving Vragenlijst (RBV) op de schaal ‘coping’

Abstract

Abstract Math experience plays an important role within math difficulties and dyscalculia. The current study examined the reliability and the validity of the scales adaptive and maladaptive coping from the Math experience questionnaire (MEQ) for adolescents (N = 948) in class 1, 2 and 3 from schools for secondary education in the Netherlands. Aiming to create insight into the use of the MEQ as a standardized diagnostic instrument. Data were obtained with the CERQ, UCL-A and the MEQ. Results show that the reliability of the MEQ is sufficient with internal reliability of sufficient to good and test-retest reliability with indications of a strong positive correlation. Factor analysis indicated that the scale for maladaptive coping has a different item distribution in the current sample compared to the current item distribution of the MEQ. Together these results suggest that in the current sample the reliability of the adaptive and maladaptive coping scales is good. The validity needs a closer investigation to be substantial. Samenvatting Rekenervaring speelt een belangrijke rol binnen rekenproblemen en dyscalculie. De huidige studie onderzoekt de betrouwbaarheid en validiteit van de schalen adaptieve en maladaptieve coping van de Reken Beleving Vragenlijst (RBV) bij adolescenten (N = 948) in klas 1, 2 en 3 van het voortgezet onderwijs in Nederland. Met als doel inzicht te creëren voor het gebruik van de RBV als gestandaardiseerd diagnostisch instrument. Data is verzameld aan de hand van de CERQ, UCL-A en de RBV. Resultaten laten zien dat de betrouwbaarheid van de RBV voldoende is met een interne betrouwbaarheid van voldoende tot goed en een test-hertest betrouwbaarheid die indicaties geeft voor een sterke positieve correlatie. Een factoranalyse laat zien dat de schaal maladaptieve coping een andere itemverdeling heeft voor de huidige steekproef in vergelijking met de huidige itemverdeling van de RBV. Vanuit de resultaten kan voor de huidige steekproef geconcludeerd worden dat de betrouwbaarheid van de adaptieve en maladaptieve schaal goed is. Om de validiteit adequaat vast te kunnen stellen is verder onderzoek noodzakelijk.
