This paper explores the differences and similarities in the way that various translators handled the kinds of problems in Anne Frank's writings that I faced in my own translation of Van her naar der, the first chapter of Ellen Schwarzschild's En toch leefden wij. The information gained from comparing four translations of Anne Franks works and the two Dutch publications is then used to construct a translation strategy for translating Van her naar der, followed by the actual (annotated) translation.
