dc.description.abstract | This research project contributes to the development process of a tool which, based on the current location of the trains in the Dutch railway network, can predict the future locations of the trains in the railway network. This tool is a concept of the Dutch software development company Ordina. For this tool, an agent-based approach is used to simulate the railway scenarios. In order to do so a conceptual model of the railway system is developed. This model is simplified in order to be able to develop an executable model to simulate with. Further- more it is explained what data should be up to date from the real system in order to be able to make a good prediction. It is explained that at the start of a simulation the values of those parameters which would normally be set by observations of the environment should be set. These values should be set as if the agents were already active in the past. The simplified model is evaluated and recommendations for further research are given. | |
