Abstract Background: Several studies emphasize the possible relation between early numeracy and gender. The current study will be focusing on this as well. Additionally, present research will also investigate the possible relation between early numeracy and birth order. This study is focused on preschoolers living in Utrecht. Aim: The aim of this study is to examine, based on earlier literature research, whether there is a relationship between early numeracy and gender as well as for early numeracy and birth order. This will be done by 58 preschoolers. To measure the early numeracy of these children, the Utrechtse Getalbegrip Toets – Revised (UGT-R) will be used. Afterwards these results will be compared with their results of the Cito Rekenen. Results: Results of the present study show no significant differences for gender and birth order on both tests. Conclusion: According to this study there is no significant relation between early numeracy and gender. The study also doesn’t show any significant relation between early numeracy and birth order.
