People live in a designed environment. The environment influences the action choices of people, so also the designed environment. The people who design the environment, architects, therefor have some responsibility towards society, because they design the environment in which people act. The idea of Nudging will be introduces in architecture, to help people with gaining a healthier lifestyle. In this thesis there will be looked at the idea of Affordances as the underlying action theory for Nudging. Affordances are all around the environment, but some of them can be more inviting to people then others. By figuring out what makes an affordance more inviting, it might be possible to nudge people into a healthier lifestyle, with architectural design.
