dc.description.abstract | In the Dutch debate on immigrants non-Western Muslim women are predominantly depicted as failing to participate in society. The participation ladder has been developed to stimulate their participation. This thesis examines the assumptions about participation that are incorporated in the participation ladder and simultaneously explores the views of non-Western Muslim women on the concept. In this way, the thesis redefines the concept participation. | |
