Interculturalisation in the mental healthcare is widely examined in the Netherlands. There are indications that there are more drop-outs within the immigrant population than there are within the autochthonous population. There are multiple explanations for it. This is an examination of the drop-outs within the immigrant population of I-psy intercultural psychiatry, an national mental health institution.. Five predictors have been examined: a difference in ethnic background between de caregiver and the caretaker, the expectations of the caretaker, how well the caretaker is integrated in Dutch society, how many years they live in the Netherlands and which generation immigrant they are. None of the five predictors came out significant is this research. There were, however, some other significant findings. It appeared that the degree of integration is associated with the expectations of the client, to which migration generation the caretaker belongs, and whether there is an ethnic match between caregiver and caretaker.
