This thesis will focus on the Knight from Chaucer’s Canterbury Tales. It will centre on the discussion whether we should see the Knight as a chivalric knight or a mercenary. This thesis will show, by using historical and textual facts, that the Knight should be seen as a crusader, more specifically a confrere knight.
