Totalitarianism at the service of the German folk: Alfred Rosenberg and the necessity of a Nazi myth

Abstract

This thesis seeks to revalue established ideas surrounding the nature of National Socialist ideology and will shine a light on the forgotten cornerstone of political thought that served as the staging point for Europe's most traumatic experiences in modern history, the Second World War and the Holocaust. Alfred Rosenberg and his work are at the center of this endeavor because it served as the foundation upon which Nazism later developed. The appeal and logic of Nazism will be explained as well as the need for its policies to be implemented. As such, this thesis takes a different approach to analyzing Nazism in that it refuses to look at it as an exclusively political phenomenon but rather as an all encompassing effort to change the DNA of society.
