dc.description.abstract | This study set out to determine the extent to which the literary competence obtained in L1 can be transferred to L2. In order to answer this question, an empirical research was carried out in the four classes in upper secondary education in two schools and as an outcome of this research, satisfying results have been obtained. The research comprised two sections. In the first section, a shortened version of LRQ, a self-created questionnaire based on statements connected to the literary framework and questions aimed at determining the target language and contact frequency were used. According to the results obtained, a small group was formed from the students to take part in the second part of the research. In this section of the research, the students’ competence in L2 was assessed with the aid of fragments from books, questions formed from these fragments and the students’ own expressions about the fragments, and this was compared with the results in L1. The obtained results answered both the question of research and the pertaining sub-questions in a satisfactory manner and in keeping with expectations, and prepared the ground for new research questions. | |
