dc.description.abstract | This thesis endeavours to identify the problematic and multifaceted character of the use of humanitarian aid as a weapon of war in situations of non-international armed conflict in post-Cold War sub-Saharan Africa. It draws upon international humanitarian law, international human rights law and international criminal law and examines to what extent parties to an internal conflict can be held accountable for using aid as a martial weapon (by means of blocking, attacking, manipulating or failing to provide or protect aid that is indispensable for people’s survival). | |
