dc.description.abstract | Although the cultural origins of nationalist theories have been reviewed time and again, there has not yet been a systematic overview of the origins of nationalist writers. This thesis has created a programme in which the socio-economic origins of intellectuals can be reviewed. Furthermore it has implemented these ideas by looking at Dutch intellectual nationalists between 1750 and 1813. The result is a broad overview of the socio-economic origins of nationalist theorists in the Netherlands. | |
