| dc.description.abstract | In the Dutch Emancipation Policy presented in 2013 by Minister Bussemaker, a new attitude towards women's responsibilities with regards to their economic self-sufficiency was presented. The Minister urged Dutch women to realise that their economic security is for a large part in their own hands. This thesis explores how the framing of the topic of economic self-sufficiency in relation to women's emancipation reveal attitudes towards the issue of emancipation, and how these frames reveal the aim and purpose of Dutch Emancipation Policy. Further analysis on who is included and excluded in the frames of this policy will attempt to develop how, despite the best intentions by the Dutch government, there remain women in the margins of society that are not aided by this policy document. | |
