Of all the different language formalisms, many have been compared to one another in terms of expressive power (RCG, MCFG, TAG, etc). However, the question remains what the power of Displacement Grammars is, compared to these other formalisms. This thesis shows how Displacement Grammars can be transformed into an RCG format, in an attempt to help work towards an answer for that question. First, each of the relevant formalisms are explained. Then, the transformation is described and formally defined. And finally, a few examples are presented of how the transformation works.
