dc.description.abstract	This paper wishes to focus on the film entitled A Time for Drunken Horses (2000) by Bahman Ghobadi, a Kurdish Iranian, and to position its place within a wider context, being that of Iranian film in relation to an international audience. The first part of this essay will go into the historical background of Iranian cinema, starting around 1965 up to 2000. The second part of the essay will focus on Bahman’s Ghobadi’s a Time for Drunken Horses (2000) and how it positioned itself on the global scene, and mainly it’s position at the 2001 International Film Festival Rotterdam. The aim of this essay is to investigate a debut film, and particularly its place within the context of Iranian films that reach an international audience.
