De los No Espacios a los Espacios de Resistencia: Aproximación Etnográfica a las Arquitecturas de poder en la ciudad de Granada (From Non-Spaces to Spaces of Resistance: Ethnographic aproximation to Power Architectures in the city of Granada)

Abstract

Este trabajo pretende lanzar una mirada crítica a los dispositivos de poder que están incrustados en los procesos de producción del espacio. A partir de un proceso autoetnográfico en diálogo con otros “cuerpos fuera de lugar”, pretendo realizar una aproximación a las arquitecturas de poder en la ciudad de Granada, con el objetivo de visibilizar y denunciar las tecnologías disciplinadoras que se ejercen sobre los cuerpos a través de la fragmentación de espacios, la vigilancia y la sanción normalizadora. Cuestionando la aparente naturalidad de los escenarios urbanos, quiero destacar la conexión entre éstos y la construcción de identidades normativas a partir del establecimiento y mantenimiento de dicotomías hegemónicas, tales como Hombre-Mujer, Homosexualidad- Heterosexualidad, Ciudadanx-No ciudadanx, y en definitiva, el Nosotrxs-Otrxs. Dirigiendo la atención hacia lo difuso de los límites conceptuales entre Cuerpo y Espacio, pretendo politizar nuestras experiencias cotidianas de opresión para señalar cómo todos aquellos cuerpos fuera de lugar, están de hecho subvirtiendo las relaciones de poder en las que están inmersos. Generando rupturas en el orden y distribución espacial heteronormativa, quiero mostrar cómo estan desafiando la conceptualización hegemónica de “ciudadanía”, transformando los no-espacios que habitan, en espacios de resistencia.

The present paper is the result of the ethnographic field work I have been developing so far in the context of Granada. I approached the study of the configuration of spaces attending to the concept of power architectures and dealing with three main questions: What kind of spaces we find in the city, and how are they built?; How are these spaces being used?, and finally, Who is allowed to participate in them? Based on these questions I explored the notions of belonging and participation, and I collected subversive experiences from ́othered` individuals and communities, explicitly excluded from the normative ideal of ́citizen`. Through an auto-ethnographic process, and establishing dialogues with other ́out-of-place` subjectivities, I question how spaces are far away from being naturally constructed. On the contrary, they are crossed by gender, race, class, age, sexuality and other classificatory categories. Throughout this research activity, I attempted to develop a deep feminist critique and denounce to the power structures embedded in the spatial configuration processes in the city of Granada, as well as to visualize all those strategies from the margins that are currently struggling against them. Highlighting the blurriness of boundaries between bodies and spaces, my intention has been to politicize our daily experiences of oppression to point out how those “out-of-place” bodies are actually subverting the power relations and, therefore, challenging the hegemonic notion of citizenship by transforming the non-spaces to which they are pushed, into spaces of resistance.
