dc.description.abstract | In 2011 the Chinese mathematician Zhi-Wei Sun published an article containing 100 open conjectures about congruences involving hypergeometric sums. It happens to be the case that we can relate many of these congruences to the number of Fp-points on elliptic curves with complex multiplication. The complex multiplication property of these elliptic curves will give us a way to find the number of Fp-points on these elliptic curves and by means of these cardinalities certain congruences are implied. | |
