dc.description.abstract9/11 has changed the Western World and the fear of terrorist attacks is widespread. The Western world has seen an increase of security measures and invasions of privacy. In New York City, the heart of the 9/11 attacks, Muslim communities have to deal with racial profiling and infiltrates of the NYPD. Moreover, Muslims and the Islam are often depicted by the mass media in a very negative light. This research focuses on the influence of media representations on the identity of Muslims in New York City.
