dc.description.abstractQuite Interesting (QI) is a British quiz/panel show that strives to make the inane fascinating by combining it with comedy.This thesis seeks to discover and attempts to solve the problems that arise when subtitling for this show in Dutch. An overview of the relevant translation theories as well as relevant translation strategies are given and applied to a corpus of subtitled excerpts from the show. This study focuses in particular on the loss of information, the translation of comedy and the translation of culturally bound items.
