This thesis investigates the role of translation norms in the process of retranslation. The translation and revision of Joseph Heller's Catch-22 and the translation and retranslation of Harper Lee's To Kill a Mockingbird are examined in this thesis to find out if a distinct difference can be discovered in the translation norms in the Netherlands in the periods 1960-1962 and 2009-2011.
