dc.description.abstractThis bachelor thesis consists of a a translation of the first two chapters of Thomas Hardy's story "On the Western Circuit" from the short story volume Life's Little Ironies (1894). The translation is supported by a biography of the author, a discussion of important themes and an analysis of the pragmatic, socio-cultural, linguistic and source text specific translation problems.
