Mogelijkheden om diergeneeskundige zorg te bieden aan huisdieren van minima
Summary
Using questionnaires among veterinarians dealing with pets and interviews with organizations
in the pet branch, the current arrangements and the possible solution directions for the
problems relating to veterinary care for pets from people on welfare are discussed.
At this moment there are several arrangements. However, fragmentation occurs and a
nationwide coverage is lacking. As a possible solution preventative education is brought
forward. Also, for a certain group of pet owners on welfare the regular animal health
insurance could provide the solution. There where the need for support is greatest a clinic for
minimum income owners could be a solution, as long as clear agreements with the veterinary
practices in the vicinity are made. For the group that cannot afford premiums an addition to
the deficient part of the veterinary bill from a fund, or a reduced health insurance premium is
a possible solution.
