        Summary
In this thesis the 2001 war in Afghanistan in analyzed using the just war theory. Focusing on American decisions and actions, all three parts of the theory, jus ad bellum (justice of war), jus in bello (justice in war), and jus post bellum (justice after war) are used to scrutinize every phase of the conflict between the United States and its allies against the Taliban and Al Qaeda from the run-up to the war in September and October 2001 in response to the attacks of September 11, 2001 through to the end of 2005.
