The end of the 1960s and 1970s showed an increased interest in leftist/socialist groups all around the world. In this period left wing and social politics were at a climax. In Turkey this was also the case, but the Turkish Workers Party could not profit from this trend. In this thesis the reasons for this failure are discussed, centralized around the question of why the TİP could not perform a more prominent role in Turkish politics in the 1960s and the beginning of the 1970s.
