MetadataShow full item record
This thesis examines the development of nuclear non-proliferation policies since 1945. It takes the reader from the first conception of plans for nuclear disarmament, to the inception of the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) in 1968. The research further encompasses an evaluation of the successes and failures of non-proliferation policies and the NPT to prevent further states from gaining nuclear weapon capabilities. To this end, the historical overview of non-proliferation policies from 1945 until 2007 is complemented by an analysis of the current state of the non-proliferation regime, as well as a glimpse into the prospects of halting the spread of nuclear weapons.
